We, the Apex Racers team, are determined and have bold aspirations for the competition. Our team consists of five high school students, from Anatolia College, each with a variety of skills and a great attitude to creative problem-solving. Taking the above into consideration, it is not surprising that we aim to become world champions of F1 in Schools 2021.
F1 in Schools is a worldwide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) competition for elementary and high school students comprising of more than 20,000,000 participants from over 44 different countries around the world, who work together and collaborate with experts to design, modulate, test, develop, assemble and race a micrographic of an F1 racing car. The participants is not only to design the car and obtain sponsorships to cover the costs, but are also required to advertise their car to the public. Needless to say, this competition entails sufficient time-management skills, hard-working and determined participants willing to step out of their comfort zone.

Behind the goals we have set, are the core values of the team. Like any successful team, our set goals and values before it started. These values would fit into any project we could do because they establish good cooperation and commitment. These values are hard work, capacity and self-confidence.
It is our first time competing in F1 in schools and we couldn’t be more excited and passionate about the journey. We strongly believe that when the Internet is used effectively, it can allow small teams –– like ours –– to reach their best potential.
Both our team and your organization can benefit if we join our forces. For one, you will have the chance to advertise your company to an international audience, with F1 finals having been featured in UK TV. Furthermore, your support will help a new team reach the top and fulfil its goals of passing the final line of the competition. What’s more, you will get the chance to support the biggest technological competition in the world along with young pioneers, like us.
Our ultimate goal is to grow both as individuals and as a team. While learning useful marketing and engineering concepts used by professionals, we will lead to future events at the same time. Our desire to evolve and become successful individuals as well as active members of society inspires us and pushes us forward every day. Our desire to work together towards a common vision is the fuel that allows us to attain uncommon results. After the end of this competition, we aspire to be more innovative, knowledgeable and cooperative at the same time.
Our belief and group philosophy depends on cooperation, which permits singular ability to bloom and abilities to create to the greatest potential. Our team is built on values, such as cooperation, teamwork, hard work and love for the competition. Our shared goal is: "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." Inspired by this quotation, our team presents a special spirit of teamwork and partnership, setting common goals and crossing together, as a whole, this path to its end.
To create the team identity we had a lot of team discussions, due to its sheer significance throughout the competition. The first word of our name, “Apex”, could be translated into Greek as apogee or peak. This means that we must do whatever it takes. We can do our best to achieve our goals. The colours that were carefully selected after extensive research. Our logo, selected among many others, is designed to list the name of our team in the best possible way.
Goals are integral to team development and organization; in fact, we have determined the ones most important to our team. Our goals are to attract seven (7) sponsors, to organize events –– 2 live and 2 online ones and to create a short video that will reflect the identity of the team. Our goal is also the car to be as small in size as possible, so as not to have a weight which can reduce the maximum speed that it can reach. We also want it to have a good exterior design and the colours of our identity, to make a Gantt chart and to follow the deadlines that we set, to set long & short term goals and create a website and social media.
To achieve our goals, we have structured our team in an efficient manner that encourages cooperation, with each member having clearly defined roles. Moreover, the roles and responsibilities of each team member were determined by each member’s experience, knowledge and skills, combined with their strengths, weaknesses and overall interests.
F1 in SchoolsTM is the only global multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged 9 to 19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered balsa wood F1 cars.
A team must consist of between 3 and 6 team members. Each team member should be given a different role within the team to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The World Finals take place on an annual basis at a different location each year. The locations are usually set to coincide with a Formula OneTM Grand Prix. Past locations have been Melbourne, Australia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; London, England; Singapore; Abu Dhabi, UAE and Austin, USA.
Changing lives around the world. “To help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people.”
A team must first compete in their in country competition regionally and nationally. The best teams from each country will then be put forward and will have the chance to represent their country along with teams from around the world at the F1 in Schools World Finals.
As a team you will register to take part in your local Regional Final where you will compete against other teams from your area. Regional winners will go through to the UK National Final to compete again against other regional winners for the title of UK National Champions. This process is repeated around the world in over 40 countries where National Champions from every country are invited to compete at the World Finals where they will go head to head to become the F1 in Schools World Champions and lift the F1 in Schools World Champions trophy. The 2017-18 challenge reached and exceeded all expectations, with 23 countries producing 51 teams to compete at the 2017 World Finals in Malaysia. The current World Champions are Hyperdrive from Australia. This year, we are expanding further and hope to have even more countries taking part in the 2018 World Finals in Singapore, in what will be a spectacular competition.
